Filled Under: Cars, High School Memories, I Want, Life

vwIsn’t this like the most coolest car ever?! (Unless you’re like my friend Meyli & only went ‘ew’)…  If you click on the image you’ll get a larger view of the 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia. Lately I’ve been obsessed with the Volkswagen Westfalia Campers.

The first time I saw one was around 6 years ago. This guy I went to school with (elementary to high school/graduation!) had one. I remember every time I would see him pull up to the parking lot at our high school I was always wishing I could have a look inside and maybe even have a ride in it. Even though I knew the guy and he was nice to everyone we weren’t exactly “friends”. I mean I talked to him when we had classes together and like I said, he was always nice. But that doesn’t technically classify us as friends. So of course I never got the nerve to walk up to him and ask him to let me see his car. I mean, really. How weird would it be if someone you knew but didn’t exactly hang out with you or your friends suddenly came up to you and was like “Hey, I like your car. Can I see the inside of it or maybe even give me a ride somewhere?”. …. yeah.

But from that time to now I would still see his cute little green camper being driven around town and I’d find myself mesmerized and also green with envy. And then this morning, as I happened to wake up, still sleepy and groggy, I happen to look outside the window and I see the same car drive down my street. WTF, right?! It had been awhile since I had last seen the “van” and now suddenly seeing it again brought up my inner passion and wanted one so badly.

So I’ve been spending the last couple of hours looking into these cars online. I’ve found so many cool pictures and information about them. For some reason I never looked into the cars online before. Lame! I was missing so much cool stuff! I finally got to see what they look like inside! *_* Not what I imagined! This site: Green Monster’s VW Westfalia Camper Page has an awesome image gallery consisting of the interior and exterior and images of different campers from different years.

I’ve been thinking about selling my car and when I have a job start saving up to buy one. But then I think to myself… I’m studying to be a part-time freelance Web Designer AND someday start my own child care center when I finish my Early Childhood Education degree… does this look like the kind of car you’d like to see your child’s teacher or the web designer you hire for a project drive? I mean, I know it’s probably not very professional… My friend even said it’s a hippie van. But so! I want one… *cries*

Yeah, anyways, I don’t know. I want one, but something inside me doubts I’ll ever get to own one.

Anyways, to change the subject… I finally had a job interview yesterday. I’ve applied at hundreds of places (technically 6 places) and Dairy Queen is the only one that calls me?! But a job’s a job, right? And I need something so I can start paying my bills and keep me doing something until college starts again. I feel bad that my parents are paying my bills for me right now… >_<

So DQ called in the morning while I was asleep… and my bro took a message. I called them back around 1pm yesterday and they asked me to come in for an interview at 4:30. So I took a shower, got ready, ate some lunch, and then headed out. The interview was short and fast, but I think I did good. Hopefully I’ll get the job. The good thing about it is that my best friends, Marcos & Jocelyn, work there! Yay!

Anyways, I better do some laundry. Bye~

Sunday Sora (late!) & Mother’s Day

sora03

So Yesterday was Sunday, and I never got around to posting the picture for Sunday Sora. So here it is! He’s such a lazy dog and loves to just lay around on my bed and sleep under my blanket. It’s strange having such a lazy dog, haha. In the past I’ve had dogs that were energetic (chihuahua, german shepherd, etc), and they all listened to me, and loved to play. Sora’s a little different. He never listens to me, and would rather just lay in a corner and sleep! It gets annoying, but he’s so cute, so all is forgiven. =)

Yesterday was also Mother’s Day, and unfortunately for me, I was sick. I’ve been feeling sick these past few day. I don’t know what I’m sick with… I don’t think it’s a cold or flu. I’ve just been nausious and I’ve been having a lot of headaches. So anyways, I woke up yesterday around 9:30 and got up and gave my mom a hug and gave her the gift I made for her:

plush_mom

Since I’m not working at the moment, I obviously didn’t have money to buy my mom a gift. So I spend a couple of hours on Saturday night making the above plushie for my mom. I’m happy to say that she loved it! ^^ The original design/idea of the plush isn’t mine, so I don’t take any credit in the design of the plush. But I did make it with no pattern, and hand sewed it, except the the mouth, eyes, and heart, I used stitchless-glue, cause it’s easier. XD

Anyways, the original design/idea was created by Hannah! She makes such amazing plushies and crafts! She’s on my watch list, so when I that she posted these cute Hearty Biscuits I wanted to give one for my mom. But since I didn’t have money to purchase one from her I decided to make my own since I still had a bunch of felt I bought a few months ago.

So continuing on Mother’s Day, my dad took my mom out for a late breakfast around 11:30. Since they were gone and my younger brother at work, and my eldest brother at church, I decided to clean the house for my mom. My mom is a person who loves a clean house. But with working full time, 3 sons 1 daughter (only 1 son is married and not living at home), she’s always tired and doesn’t have time to clean. And of course me and my brothers don’t like to clean, lol.

But I thought it’d be nice for her to come home to a clean house. So after they left I started with the living room. I dusted and vacuumed. Next I cleaned the kitchen and two bathrooms, which included sweeping and mopping. After that I made my parents’ bed and mopped their bedroom floor since they have hardwood floors.
It took me about 2 hours to finish cleaning, and I was quite happy! Everything looked so clean and fresh. After I finished cleaning I was exhausted. Being sick + cleaning like a maniac isn’t always a good idea. So I laid down and listened to music and fell asleep.

When I woke up I read a little bit, and I heard my parents come home. A minute later my mom knocked on my door and asked who cleaned the house. I told her I did. She came and gave me a hug and told me that it was the best Mother’s Day gift, and she was really happy and surprised I even cleaned her room. ^_^

So now that I’ve caught up on blogging, I guess I should go do something. =)

Friday 5: Games People Play

By Yesenia on Friday, May 8, 2009

I’m so glad today’s Friday. It’s been such a busy week for me, but I managed to get a lot of things done! There was one thing though, that I wasn’t able to do, not even start it. And that is my gift for Mather’s Day. If I remember correctly it’s this Sunday. Since I don’t have money to buy her a gift I’ve been thinking of making her something. I was originally going to make her a cute plushie she could keep with her at work. I have a bunch of felt that I bought when I made a plush for my brother, so hopefully I can start on a new plush for my mom. =)

Anyways, today’s Friday 5, so here they are!

  1. What’s your favorite card game?: I would probably have to say Uno. It’s a game my family has always played together since I was little. The only problem with Uno is that every other person I play with that’s not my family, all play the game differently! So it always causes problems when we play with other people because they have know different rules and stuff.
    .
  2. What’s your favorite roll-the-dice-and-move game?: Game of Life
    .
  3. What’s your favorite playground game?: Hide-and-Seek. :D
    .
  4. What’s your favorite party game?: Loteria! For those who don’t know, Loteria is a Mexican game, kind of like Bingo, except instead of reading numbers from a ball you have a deck of cards that depicts a picture and the name of the card/picture on card. Whoever gets 4 in a row/pattern/diagonally/etc, wins, and we usually play for money. :D I play this game all the time during family get togethers. ^^
    .
  5. What’s your favorite computer game?: Online - currently I’ve been addicted to the game Restaurant City, that I play through Facebook and it’s by Playfish. It’s a silly-time-taking game, but I keep on going back to it. xD Offline - Hmm… probably Solitaire or Mahjong Titans.

Completing Things

By Yesenia on Thursday, May 7, 2009
Filled Under: Life, School, Sora

This whole week has been a little busy for me. On Monday and Tuesday I did a lot of thinking of what I want to do with my education. I’ve been going to Walla Walla Community College since I graduated high school in 2005. Even though I have taken an entire year of school off I feel that I’m ready to go back and have more precise goals in mind finally.

Yesterday I met with my academic advisor. Besides being my advisor, she has also been my employer, instructor, and friend. She’s such an amazing person… so smart and talented. I’m serious when I say it’s an honor to know her. I’ve learned so much from her and she’s been very supportive during the problems I had last year.

So I met with her yesterday to discuss what classes I had left to complete my Associates in Applied Arts & Science degree in Web Technology. Luckily it’s only a few such as Advertising, Customer Service, English 101, an art class, and Fundamentals of Network Security. The last one sounds kind of like “ew”… but it could be intersting. Might even be better than Advertising and Customer Service. Yuck.

We also discussed the Appeal and Petition letter I have to write. Since I dropped my summer courses last year my financial aid was suspended. So I had to write an appeal letter to reinstate my financial aid. I have also decided that I want to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education so I can open up my own child care center :) . But since financial aid will only fund two degrees while I’m at WWCC, and I have it on record that I’m supposed to complete a Web Tech degree and AA Transfer. But I decided that if I did the AA Transfer, it’d take another 2 years to finish it, plus the 2 years if I transferred to a university to get my BA. And I know it’s going to be hard to to pay for my tuition if I transfer. So I decided to it’d be best to change my degree so I can finish school sooner and start on my career. But now I also had to write a petition letter to change my degree from a AA Transfer to Early Childhood Education so financial aid can also fund it.

So anyways, I just finished both the appeal and petition letters and sent them to my advisor so she can look over them. I really hope everything goes good for once. I’ve had so many bad things happen one after the other, I can finally use some good luck. So I hope both letters get approved, I hope my financial aid gets reinstated, and I hope I’m able to go to school this fall and finish my Web Technology degree and start my Early Childhood Education degree. =)

Oh and I’m glad that people liked the last picture I posted of Sora. He’s so cute! I think I mentioned that was an old picture… Right now he’s super fluffy and hairy, haha, since I haven’t had time to take him to the groomers. He looks so funny with all that hair. I’ll try to get a good picture of him for this weekend’s Sunday Sora. ^^

Friday 5: May 1

By Yesenia on Friday, May 1, 2009

Oh wow, is it really already Friday??? Is it already May?! Wow, I honestly can’t believe how fast the month of April went. This new month is going to have a lot going on. ~_~ I have to finish my appeal for financial aid eligibility, Mother’s Day is coming up (and I have no money to get my mom a gift), May 20th is my mom’s birthday (again, no money for gift. Maybe I can make her something…), and I have 3 bills due this month - cellphone, internet, and credit card I’m still paying off.

I feel bad having my parents help me out with my bills… I owe them a lot for all their help. I’m even lucky that I still get gas money from my younger brother and his friend. His friend is always asking for me to pick him up and bring him my home, and then later take him back home. So it all works out. I give him rides and he usually gives me $10 or $20 for gas. ^^ .. wow, I sound really lame… hahaha :D

Anyways, since it’s Friday we all know what that means! Friday 5 taken from Friday5.org!

  1. On May First, 1738, King Kamehameha I was born. What are your impressions of Hawaii?: Well I don’t know what to think exactly about Hawaii since I’ve never been there. But I’ve always wanted to go! It looks so beautiful and I’d love to explore around there. =)
    .
  2. On May First, 1873, Dr. David Livingstone died. When did you last presume something erroneous about someone or something?: Hmm… I can’t think of a something. It’s too early in the morning… haha
    .
  3. On May First, 1876, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro debuted. How do you feel about Disney’s animated classic Pinocchio?: I love the movie Pinocchio. That was the first kids’ movie that scared me when I was little. :D
    .
  4. May First is Walpurgis Night in Sweden and other parts of northern Europe. When did you last sing in front of an audience?: I guess the first time I sang in front of an audiance was when I was in kindergarten or something. When I was little, grades 5 and under would have two programs a year. We would do a Christmas and Spring program and each would have different themes and we’d all sing and stuff. I used to hate doing them. XD
    .
  5. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are a punk rock cover band. What song’s cover version do you like better than its original version?: Wow, there a lot of good cover versions, but I guess one of my favorites would be Sea of Treachery’s cover of Paramore’s ‘Misery Business’ song. I love the original, but I love how Sea of Treachery makes it more hardcare/metal! :D

Anyways, it’s 8:30 in the morning, so I better go do something productive. =D
Oh, and I’m glad everyone loved the picture of Sora that I posted last Sunday! ^^ Please look forward to a new one in a couple of days!

Sunday Sora 01

By Yesenia on Monday, April 27, 2009
Filled Under: Family, Fun Times, Sora, Sunday Sora, Weekend

Today is the first of the Sunday Sora theme. For those who don’t know, Sora, which means “Sky” in Japanese, is the name of my 3 year old shih-tzu. Sora is a male even though his name sounds feminine. *_* Lol, but the day I got him I had been playing Kingdom Hearts, lol, so as I was playing as Sora from KH, I decided to name my dog that too. :D

Anyways, as for the new “Sunday Sora” theme, basically every Sunday I’ll post a random picture of Sora and either leave the post with just a picture of him, or if I feel like it I’ll blog about what else I did that day.

sora01

Aww, isn’t he cute?? This picture was actually taken a few months ago… the reason I didn’t take a recent picture is because since I’m not working at the moment, I don’t have time to take him to the groomers. And right now he’s super hairy! He’s a little fluff ball, but his hair got all in tangles so he needs a haircut. ^_^

Anyways, today was a super long day. I went to Pasco, WA today with my family. It’s about 45 minutes away. We decided to go to the flea market there. Pasco is like filled with hispanics. Everytime we go there or even to the flea market I always feel like I’ve suddenly traveled to Mexico. And I love that feeling! The flea market was packed, and about 99% of the people there were all hispanic. I just love how it feels like Mexico there. I love the sounds of the people and children, of the sellers and the music. Even the smell! I love the smell of all the yummy ice cream, tacos, candy, and other mexican food products. It always makes me nostalgic. I can’t wait until we go to Mexico again. I love seeing all my relatives there. ^^

After the flea market in Pasco we decided to go to the mall in Kennewick, WA. Again… super packed with people! We didn’t buy much there. We just walked around, bought pretzels and smoothies, and then my dad bought me some new shoes since the ones I had were old.

I gotta say, it was a really long, tiring day. But it was nice spending time with my family. It’s been months since I’ve gone out with both my parents, so it was really nice. :)

Friday 5: Annoyance

By Yesenia on Friday, April 24, 2009
Filled Under: Friday 5

Yay! Today is Friday =)

I’m just about to leave and go visit a friend. We plan to watch the new anime series he bought, Paradise Kiss! I’ve been wanting to watch the anime for a long time now! I read the manga and I absolutely loved it! It made me cry! I just love Ai Yazawa. She’s such an amazing mangaka!

Anyways, before I leave I decided to go ahead and post today’s Friday 5, courtesy of Friday5.org!

  1. What’s the most annoying sound in the world?: My alarm clock! It has this scratchy, high-pitched sound. Scares me during the mornings I have it on.
    .
  2. Which of other people’s mannerisms do you find very annoying?: I hate it when people try to act “stupid” cause they think it’s cute or funny. Annoys the crap out of me. I also find it annoying when people make up lies or stories and it’s obvious that they’re lying.
    .
  3. What do you do that really annoys others?: I have a bad habit of biting my fingernails. It annoys the crap out of my friends and family. My family also finds it annoying that if they put a bottle of juice or soda in the fridge, I’ll open it and take a drink out of it and put it back. I also most of the times use my mom’s awesome body wash and she always finds out and gets mad cause I forget to put it back where she has it “hidden”. XD
    .
  4. In what way has your own behavior recently caused you annoyance?: Lately I’m finding it very annoying that I keep on procrastinating! I’ve always had such a problem with procrastination. I’ll eventually get things done, but I plan to do them and always put it off. I also tend to get distracted very easily since I love to multi-task… but me not being strong enough to avoid the distractions annoy me. ;_;
    .
  5. Who’s the most annoying person you know?: Hm, oh wow, don’t want to list anyone in case they read this! Haha! Nah, I would have to say that my dad’s pretty annoying. He has two sides of him. He’s either very childish and loves to play jokes and pranks and bother me… I find that very annoying. And his other side where he’s really serious and strict… also annoying!

Well that was this week’s Friday 5! Hopefully I’ll blog about something more interesting tomorrow. And then Sunday is “Sunday Sora”! Haha, yay!

Happy Tears

By Yesenia on Thursday, April 23, 2009

A friend of mine on Facebook shared the link to the above video of Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent 2009. I’ve heard so much about this person on various media sites, but I never took the time to actually look into why she’s so famous. But after watching the above video I finally realized why.

As soon as Susan walked onto the stage I immediately liked her. I could tell she was a little bit strange, but that’s why I loved about her. She had confidence, seemed genuinely kind, and she seemed to have such a great and fun personality. But I also immediately noticed the audiance and judges’ expressions of doubt. I could tell a lot of people judged her on her appearance and were ready to see her fail and laugh. But for some reason, I expected her to prove people wrong, and she did!

When she started singing, I could feel entire emotion. Hearing her powerful, beautifuly voice, and the audiances expression and reaction of shock brought tears to my eyes! I could feel my eyes flooding with tears and listening to her made me feel happy inside. :)

I’m so happy for her and so glad that she went on  the show as herself and not trying to impress anyone with her appearance. She was there to show her dream of wanting to be a professional singer, and did indeed impress everyone with her wonderful voice!

I look forward to hearing more from her!
